Josh Wainwright, a recent graduate of Lumpkin County High School competed June 23rd at the Skills USA National Vocational/Technical competition in Kansas City Missouri.

Josh competed against 43 other state winners in the category of Cabinet Making placing 14th,  in the nation overall. Josh won the honor of representing Georgia and LCHS by winning the regional and state championships earlier this year.

Each contestant had an all day hands on project that tested their knowledge and skills. This year's project was a circular nightstand with an adjustable shelf, a raised panel door, moldings and a laminate top.

Josh will be attending Armstrong College in Oklahoma this fall majoring in Construction management and Cabinetry.  Josh is the son of Ernest and Sharon Wainwright.  Depicted at right is a picture of Josh resting on his project following the contest.
