2008 Senior Studio Awards

By Mark Riles

The Georgia Chapter AWI supports the education of students in the woodworking industry.

Advanced Wood Products Laboratory, Georgia Tech, GA We have in the past given an annual scholarship award to an outstanding student to help further their education. Last year we awarded a $1,000 cash scholarship to the SkillsUSA Georgia Cabinet Making contest winner. This year the Board of Directors (BOD) chose to support the students of Georgia Tech's Advanced Wood Products Laboratory. Members of the BOD attended the 2008 Senior Studio Project presentations and awarded a $1,000 first place and a $500 second place cash scholarship award.

BOD members judged the work mostly on design creativity and use of materials. However, we were all impressed with the quality of woodworking craftsmanship represented by all of the students. Please follow this link to view all of the students' work.
