Architectural Woodwork Institute (AWI) Exhibits at “2010 Wood Solutions Fair Exhibit, Atlanta, GA”

The Georgia Chapter AWI staffed the AWI Booth as part of exhibitors at the “ Wood Products Council -2010 Wood Solutions Fair” on February 16, 2010 at Cobb Galleria, Atlanta, GA . Patrick Schleisman, PE, Regional Woodworks Director and staff reported that over 400 architects, building specifies and engineers participated in the 30 workshop presentations by a slate of 14 speakers at the event.

The Wood Solutions Fairs were created to provide current information about non- residential uses of wood in construction. SE Chapter AWI representatives promoted the 2010 Architectural Woodworks Standards as representatives of AWI National fielding Q & A of the new AWI standards, provided CD’s and available hard copy of the Standards for reference and provided local suppliers of products. The Atlanta Wood Solutions fair was followed up with an additional Fair in Charlotte, NC. on Thursday, February 18 which was staffed by the Carolina’s Chapter AWI. ■

Insidesign, a 10,000-square-foot design showroom, is located at 1231 Ashford Crossing in Perimeter Place near Perimeter Mall. The showroom features a series of fully accessorized room vignettes offering builders, designers, architects and homeowners the opportunity to select custom wood products (most of which are LEED-qualified) for new builds and remodels in a single luxury shopping experience. Products are provided in categories that enable the creation of a totally integrated design for the client.

Selections are available from a dozen manufacturers of cabinetry, trim, millwork, flooring, stair parts, doors and columns, with products categorized by architectural style. In as few as three visits, clients work with store consultants, creating a custom design for their individual projects. A proprietary software that allows them to track and share information regarding this project, an opportunity that gives them more comfort in the decision-making process. Insidesign was started as a new concept in architectural wood products by Koetter Woodworking, a high-quality wholesale manufacturer and distributor of wood products since the 1950’s.
